Steel Piers Made in Oklahoma by Pier King

We Make the Piers We Install

Updated November 2026 · By the Pier King Foundation Repair team

Key takeaways

  • Pier King makes its own steel piers and installs them with its own crews.
  • Every pier is pushed to refusal and tested before the house is set on it.
  • Pier King steel piers come with a lifetime warranty that transfers to the next owner.

Most foundation repair companies buy their piers from a national supplier. Pier King makes ours. Our Steel Sleeve Lock pier system is built by Pier King’s own steel manufacturing operation, installed by our own crews, and backed by a lifetime warranty on Pier King steel piers that transfers to the next owner.

Our crews install them across Oklahoma, from our Tulsa-area headquarters in Kiefer and our Oklahoma City location.

How a Pier King Steel Pier Is Installed

  1. Dig at the footing where the house needs support.
  2. Set the pier under the footing so the load sits centered on the pipe. Pier King installs its piers concentrically, not hung off to one side.
  3. Push steel pipe down with a hydraulic ram, using the weight of the house, section by section, until the pier reaches refusal: the point where it won’t go any deeper.
  4. Re-test the push with the top cap on, so we know the pier is holding before the house is set on it.
  5. Lift and lock. Where the house can be raised back toward level, we lift it and lock it in place with steel shims.
  6. Backfill and clean up.

Why “Pushed to Refusal” Matters in Oklahoma

The clay that moves your house is in the top several feet of soil, and how deep the firm ground sits changes from one neighborhood to the next. That’s true across the red clays around Oklahoma City and the shale soils around Tulsa. Pushing each pier until it can’t go any further means it ends up below the clay that swells and shrinks, at whatever depth your lot actually needs, instead of a depth someone guessed.

Common Causes of Foundation Problems

number 1 label
Soil type

Oklahoma’s clay soils swell when they get wet and shrink when they dry out. Homes built before soil testing was routine often weren’t designed for that movement.

number 2 label
Settling

All homes settle over time naturally, but if different parts of your home have sunk or sloped further than others, it’s time to call Pier King

number 3 label
Sloping

If your home site was improperly graded or it sits at the bottom of a hill, foundation problems could develop as a result of gradual soil and debris accumulation, flash floods, or erosion

number 4 label
Poor Drainage

If your home never had gutters, or sits on a hard soil bed, water accumulating around your foundation will eventually cause it to swell, shrink, or crack

number 5 label
Plumbing Leaks

Even the smallest, slowest water leak from an underground pipe can cause extensive foundation problems

number 6 label
Poor Construction

While most Oklahoma contractors are careful to build to code, some still take shortcuts resulting in foundation damage
